On our latest trip to Florida, we visited the state fair with friends and family. It had been over a decade since our last visit, but not much had changed—especially the quirky foods! Here’s our ranking of the ones we tried.
Korean Hot Dog

Price: $13
Rating: 3/5
The Korean Hot Dog was essentially a corn dog filled with cheese, tasting more like a mozzarella stick than an actual corn dog. It took several bites to reach the hot dog itself. While it was tasty, the $13 price felt a bit too steep, which is why we gave it a 3/5 rating.
Potato Hot Dog

Price: $15
Rating: 4/5
The Potato Hot Dog was definitely better than the regular Korean Hot Dog. It was the same cheese filled corndog, but with potatoes stuck to the outside. The flavor was much better, but again, it took several bites to reach the hot dog portion. The steep price of $15 made this a 4/5 rating.
Street Corn Potato

Price: $15
Rating: 5/5
We absolutely loved the street corn potato! Just as the name suggests, it’s a potato loaded with flavorful Mexican street corn. It was packed with taste and easily our favorite dish at the fair—5/5 rating!
BBQ Pork Stuffed Waffle

Price: $16
Rating: 4/5
The BBQ Pork Stuffed Waffle was another favorite amongst everyone. We really liked the maple butter sauce that they drizzled over it. The price was steep for what you got, bumping the rating down to 4/5.
Chocolate Bacon Cheesecake on a Stick

Price: $15
Rating: 10/5
The name is a mouthful, but this was by far our favorite thing at the fair! You can’t go wrong with sweet, salty, and cheesecake. If you get one thing at the Florida State Fair, get this! 10/5 rating.
Pierogie Slider

Price: $15
Rating: 4/5
A burger slider with pierogies as the bun – how could that be bad? The burger wasn’t the most flavorful thing we’ve eaten, but overall it was good. 4/5 rating.
Southern Funnel Cake

Price: $15
Rating: 0/5
A funnel cake topped with Southern sausage gravy sounded…interesting. I’m not usually a fan of sausage gravy (it’s often too salty for me), but since I love funnel cake, I decided to give it a shot. Unfortunately, it was a total miss. The gravy was gross, and it turned the funnel cake into a soggy mess. Definitely skip this one. 0/5 rating.
Baked Ziti on a Stick

Price: $15
Rating: 2/5
This by far was the biggest rip off at the fair. $15 for a few pasta noodles with some watery sauce and cheese on it. Was it as bad as the southern funnel cake? No, but definitely not worth the money. Skip it. 2/5 rating.
